Witches, zombies and ghosts, oh my!

Drive carefully tonight, as there will be plenty of witches, zombies and ghosts on the prowl! Trick-or-treaters will be out and about from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fort Wayne. Click here for trick-or-treat times in other nearby communities.

It’s especially important to drive slowly if you happen to be in neighborhoods and other areas where children are present. Be syure to keep the following safety tips in mind:

• Slow down, and don’t pass stopped vehicles. A herd of trick-or-treaters may be getting ready to climb in or out of a car.
• Avoid using your cell phone. This is certainly a smart driving strategy any time you are behind the wheel, but it’s especially important on nights like tonight. Pay extra attention to everything going on around you.
• Be on the lookout for children. In all of their excitement, little ones are likely to forget common safety rules. (Yes, they probably know to look both ways before they cross a street, but that doesn’t mean they’ll remember to do it!)
