  • Owner’s manual
  • New Car Warranty manual
  • Certified Warranty Booklet
  • Vehicle History Report copy (Title History Check)
  • Copy of HCUC 150-point Inspection Checklist in Glove Compartment (once completed)
  • Radio Security Code
  • Navigation Code (if applicable)

VIN Inspection

  1. Vehicle VIN plates match, engine compartment, door jambs and dash
  2. VIN/FMVSS label on door jamb
  3. Perform VIN Status Inquiry check and perform applicable recall or campaign repairs

Minimum Replacement Items

  1. Engine oil & filter—with Genuine Honda filter
  2. Air filter—if dirty or at service interval
  3. Brake fluid—if dirty/discolored or at service interval
  4. Floor mats—replace mats, unless in good condition
  5. Wiper blades—replace unless they wipe windshield clean
  6. Coolant—replace if dirty or at service interval with genuine Honda fluid
  7. Tires—minimum tread depth 5/32 across tread width
  8. Disc brake pads—replace if wear is greater than 50 percent
  9. Brake shoes—replace if wear is greater than 50 percent
  10. Antenna mast—replace if bent or sticking (if applicable)
  11. Automatic transmission fluid—replace if discolored or at service interval
  12. Differential fluid—replace if discolored or at service interval (if equipped)
  13. Rear differential fluid—replace if discolored or at service interval (if equipped)

Scheduled Maintenance

  1. Nearest scheduled maintenance must be performed if within 3 months or 2,500 miles of service interval, or if no record of service exists

Road Test

  1. Starting—cold/hot
  2. Idle vibration—cold/hot
  3. Engine noise—cold/hot & high/low speeds
  4. Acceleration—power
  5. Engine operating temperature
  6. Driveability—smoothness
  7. AT shift quality/AT shift points
  8. MT shifter operation
  9. MT clutch—smoothness, effort, slippage
  10. Transmission/transaxle noise—cold/hot
  11. CV joint/drive axle noise—full lock turn right/left
  12. Braking—noise, vibration, effort
  13. Parking brake operation
  14. Steering effort—drifting right or left
  15. Steering-wheel free play/steering-wheel centered
  16. Cruise control operation, including resume
  17. Horn operation
  18. Wind noise/squeaks/rattles
  19. Speedometer/odometer operation
  20. Heater/defroster operation
  21. A/C cooling performance/vent outlet temperature
  22. Tire or steering-wheel vibration
  23. Body/suspension—performance/noise/rough road test

Under Hood—check for unacceptable aftermarket modifications

  1. Battery—condition, fluid level, load test
  2. Alternator—belt condition/tension, charging
  3. Starter operation
  4. Distributor—cap & rotor condition, shaft looseness
  5. Ignition system operation
  6. Fuel system operation—connections/leakage
  7. Fuel filter—replace per maintenance schedule
  8. Radiator—leaks, road-hazard damage
  9. A/C condenser—corrosion, road-hazard damage
  10. Cooling fan operation
  11. Coolant—replace if discolored, insufficient protection
  12. Coolant hoses—check condition
  13. Power steering—fluid level, belt condition/tension
  14. A/C compressor—proper cycling, belt condition/tension
  15. Heater valve adjustment
  16. Engine valve noise
  17. Engine/transmission mount condition
  18. Engine—remove valve cover, verify adequate maintenance, one valve cover for V-6 engine
  19. Timing belt condition

Under Vehicle—check for unacceptable aftermarket modifications

  1. Tires—OEM size, speed and load rating
  2. Tires—matching brand & type
  3. Tires—no road hazard damage/proper tire pressure
  4. Tires—check for uneven wear or sidewall cracking
  5. Wheels/rims—check for damage
  6. Valve stem condition
  7. Wheel lug nuts—all present and properly torqued
  8. Spare tire—condition/pressure
  9. Engine—oil leaks, drain plug threads
  10. Transmission leaks
  11. Coolant leaks
  12. CV joint/boots/drive-shaft/universal joint—cracks, leakage
  13. Brake pad thickness
  14. Brake rotor thickness and surface
  15. Brake caliper free movement
  16. Brake caliper leakage
  17. Rear-lining thickness (if applicable)
  18. Rear-wheel cylinder leakage (if applicable)
  19. Rear-drum thickness and surface
  20. Hydraulic hose/line leakage
  21. Suspension—springs, proper ride height
  22. McPherson strut/shock absorber leakage
  23. Bushing condition
  24. Ball joint tightness
  25. Tie-rod end tightness
  26. Power-steering rack leakage
  27. Entire exhaust system—condition, leaks, damage, noise

Exterior—check for unacceptable aftermarket modifications

  1. Headlights—high/low operation and headlight aim, cracks, chips, scratches, pitting
  2. Brakelights
  3. Turn Signal Lights—operation, cracks, chips, scratches
  4. Parking lamps
  5. Fog lamps (if applicable)
  6. Running lights (if applicable)
  7. License-plate light
  8. Taillights—operation, cracks, chips, scratches, damage
  9. Back-up lamps
  10. Emergency flasher
  11. Water leaks

Interior—check for unacceptable aftermarket modifications

  1. Fuel-gauge operation
  2. Temperature-gauge operation
  3. All warning lights illuminated with ignition “ON”
  4. Dash light operation
  5. Windshield wiper/washer operation
  6. Audio system—radio/CD/cassette, speaker operation (audio steering wheel controls if applicable)
  7. Navigation operation (if applicable)
  8. Clock functions
  9. Steering-wheel tilt/lock
  10. Sunroof operation (if applicable)
  11. Headliner condition
  12. Cigarette lighter/power outlets (if equipped)
  13. Alarm/theft system operation—check remote
  14. SRS airbags—exterior condition/check warning lamp self check
  15. Outside mirror operation, left & right
  16. Rearview mirror operation—day/night operation
  17. Window operation—noise, speed and full travel
  18. Door locks—check manual and/or power operation and child safety function
  19. Seat belts—condition, proper latching and retraction operation
  20. Seat upholstery/leather condition—front & rear
  21. Power seat operation (if equipped)
  22. Seat heaters (if equipped)
  23. Headrest movement
  24. Rear defrost operation
  25. Inside mirror/vanity light operation
  26. Interior lights—switch/door operation
  27. Glove compartment/glove compartment-light operation
  28. Luggage compartment—jack & tool present
  29. Trunk-lid release/trunk-lid light operation
  30. Fuel door release
  31. Hood release operation
