Whether you’re looking for an afternoon of fun, an entertaining day trip or a relaxing weekend away, northeast Indiana has plenty to offer. Join us as we explore some of the area’s most-loved destinations in our weekly blog series, Where will your Honda take you?

Want to spend a weekend taking in the beauty of Lake Michigan? Well, you can… and you don’t even have to leave Indiana to do it!

That’s right — Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore features a picturesque view of Lake Michigan, complete with a popular picnic area. Even better? The lakeshore is only about two-and-a-half-hours northwest of Fort Wayne.

When you arrive, be sure to check out the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center, which provides an overview of activities and programs available to visitors. View a short orientation film, shop in the bookstore or let your kids take advantage of the National Park Service Ranger program.

Then head off to West Beach, a popular venue for swimming and picnicking. Lifeguards are on duty during the peak summer season, and roving rangers offer interpretive services. Vistors are charged and amenity fee for access to West Beach.

What are you waiting for? Hop in your Honda and head to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore for a memorable end-of-summer getaway!
