Washing your car in the winter is ALWAYS a good idea
Filth and grime are all over Indiana’s roadways during the winter months, and it may be tempting to skip those seemingly pointless trips through the car wash. Even if you do take the time to spiff up you beloved car, there’s certainly more snow, slush and salt just around the corner.
So, why bother?
Well, winter weather – and all that comes with it – can take a toll on your car’s exterior. Now is NOT the time to skip the suds. A few things to keep in mind:
- Regular winter washes prevent salty road grime from eating away at your car’s finish and underbody. On the other hand, letting the salty mess linger sets the stage for corrosion, rust and other lasting damage.
- Removing grime increases your visibility. (Yes, grimy windows and mirrors don’t just look bad — they can be a safety hazard, too!)
- When the outside of your car is clean, you’re less likely to track the mess inside your car. (You’ll probably be able to keep you coat and clothing cleaner, too!)
Bottom line: Don’t let your car-washing routine slide in the winter. Your car will be much better off in the long run!
