Customer Mailbox: Servicing a Saturn with a Honda engine

I have a friend who owns a 2005 Saturn Vue. For a few years, Saturn was putting Honda V6 engines in their cars under some agreement with Honda. Anyway, his Vue is overdue for its 100k service and the GM dealership near his home was quoting $1,500.

I suggested he contact his local Honda store (since it is a Honda engine) and then call you guys to price shop. Two other Honda dealers in northern Indiana  wouldn’t even look at the vehicle, as they said, “We don’t service Saturns.” My buddy explained this Saturn has the Honda V6. The first dealership was adamant that was impossible as GM would never put a Honda engine in their cars. The service writer at the second dealership wanted to know what Honda vehicle the engine was taken out of and how it was retrofitted to the Saturn.

Your service department knew exactly what vehicle and engine he had, and needless to say, my friend will be driving from South Bend to Fort Wayne to have Don Ayres perform the 100k service. Great service department you have there!
