What should you do if you get a flat?

You may have heard it before – the dreaded thump, thump, thump that means one of your tires is flat.

So, what should you do?

• For starters, slow down. Carefully work your way to the shoulder and stop in a safe place.
• Turn on your flashers. If it’s dark, keep your lights on so other drivers can see you on the side of the road.
• If you have tools and a spare, change your tire. Otherwise, call a roadside assistance service – or a good friend — for help.
