Recipe: Hot and Sour Meatballs

Jeanne Cluts has worked in the Don Ayres office for more than 10 years, and she also happens to be a pretty phenomenal cook! Every so often, Jeanne passes along one of her amazing recipes. Here, she shares a great recipe for Hot and Sour Meatballs. If you have a party coming up, Jeanne says this will hit the spot – and you can add as much heat as you like. “The sauce is thin but very flavorful,” Jeanne says.

Meatball ingredients:         Sauce ingredients:
1 pound hamburger                        1 ½ c. brown sugar
1 pound hot sausage                       ¾ c. vinegar
½ c. milk                                             ¾ c. water
2 eggs, beaten                                    1 T. dry mustard
2 c. bread crumbs                            pepper flakes (to taste)

To prepare:
Thoroughly mix meatball ingredients. Roll into one-inch balls and place in shallow baking dish. Then, combine sauce ingredeints. Add pepper flakes for extra heat. Pour sauce over meatballs and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
