Recipe: Baked French Swirl Toast

Jeanne Cluts has worked in the Don Ayres office for more than 10 years, and she also happens to be a pretty phenomenal cook! Every so often, Jeanne passes along one of her amazing recipes. Here, she shares a recipe for Baked French Swirl Toast, which would make a tasty Father’s Day treat!
Ingredients:
1 loaf (16 oz.) cinnamon swirl bread, cut into cubes
3/4 c. raisins or cranberries
6 eggs, beaten
3 cups half-and-half or milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
cinnamon-sugar or powdered sugar
butter
maple syrup
To prepare:
Grease a three-quart, shallow baking dish and set aside. Place bread cubes and raisins in the bottom of the dish.
Meanwhile, mix eggs, half-and-half and vanilla. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and raisins. Cover and refrigerate for one hour or overnight.
Uncover. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until golden brown and set in center. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Serve with butter and syrup. Serves 8.
Tip:
Jeanne sometimes uses raisin bread and omits the raisins from this recipe.
