Plowing by the numbers
Ever wonder what it takes to clear a car lot every time it snows? It’s no small feat. For fun, we mounted a GoPro camera on the inside of one of our plow trucks this weekend to capture the process from start to finish. The camera automatically snapped a picture every five seconds. When all was said and done, we had accumulated about 4,600 photos, condensed here into a five-minute time-lapse video.
And, just to add a little perspective, we compiled a few important numbers that help tell the story:
4,600 – The number of images used to create our time lapse video.
2 – The number of plow trucks owned by Don Ayres Honda.
18 – The number of acres that need to be plowed every time it snows.
4:00 a.m. – The time we often start plowing to make sure the dealership is ready for business.
30 – The number of employees it takes to move rows of cars during the plowing process.
1,100 – The number of gallons of gas needed to fuel our two plow trucks this winter season.
500 – The approximate number of cars on our lot at any given time, including new and pre-owned inventory, cars waiting for service or body work, and employees’ personal vehicles.
260 – The total number of man hours spent plowing this winter.
16 – The number of days until spring! (And, yes – we are counting!)

The video turned out great!
Thanks for letting us use your camera Aaron!
One question please?
What kind of vehicles are the “plow trucks”?
We have 2 2013 Chev Silverado 2500s.
