Our very own snow mountain
It’s been a pretty rough winter, wouldn’t you say? Somehow, we’ve managed to experience everything from snow to ice to sub-zero temps here in Fort Wayne.

Of course, all this winter weather keeps us hopping at Don Ayres, mostly because there’s LOTS of cleanup to do. (It’s hard to sell cars if they are buried under a blanket of snow.)
When snow is in the forecast, two of our employees arrive between 4 and 5 in the morning to begin plowing the lot. (If we expect a lot of accumulation, they start even earlier!) Their goal is to clear the dealership’s main arteries, the service area driveways and the employee parking lot by 7 a.m.
The entire process can be pretty tricky. We have to move hundreds of cars before we can plow. Then, when we’re done, we have to move them all back. If all goes well, we’re done by early afternoon. (And sometimes, when thing are especially tough, we bring in heavy equipment to get the job done.)

Like the rest of Fort Wayne, we’re hoping for an early spring. We’re also wondering just how long it will take for that gigantic “Snow Mountain” at the back of our lot to completely disappear! Any guesses?
