Fall’s here! Be safe during this splendid season …

It certainly is a beautiful time of year, but drivers certainly need to be aware of some common driving conditions that occur each fall:

  • Watch out for patches of leaves, which can retain water and become quite slick.
  • Be on the lookout for frost. Remember that moisture on bridges and overpasses will freeze first, and patches of ice may be present even if you can’t see them.
  • Be mindful of increasing darkness. Nights get much longer during fall, and many people make their daily commutes during dusk and dawn. Exercise extreme caution when driving during these hours.

Bottom line: Play it safe, and observe the “two second rule” when driving. Make sure there is plenty of space between you and the car in front of you so that you can safely stop if you need to. Take it easy and make sure you and your passengers arrive safely at your destination.
