Driving during the Big Thaw
First, there was the Big Snow.
Then … the Big Chill.
Now, drivers throughout northeast Indiana are dealing with the Big Thaw.
Warming temperatures have caused road conditions to improve greatly over the last several days, but drivers still need to be on the lookout for dangerous situations:
- Snow is melting quickly, and excess water can be a hazard. If you’re not sure about the depth of standing water, it’s best to find an alternate route.
- Potholes are cropping all over the place, so pay close attention as you make your way through town.
- Finally, large piles of snow are melting, but it may be a while before they disappear completely. Visibility may be limited, so be careful.
Your best bet? Slow down and be alert!
