Caution: Orange Barrels Ahead
Spring in Indiana? Then it’s a pretty safe bet that you’ll begin to make your way through road construction zones as you travel around town.
So, how do you avoid stress and frustration during your daily commute? First, keep in mind that road construction will eventually improve area roadways. In the meantime, consider the following tips:
Plan ahead — If you know one of the main roads on your normal drive is under construction, consider at alternate route.
Slow down — This is important for everyone’s safety, but it’s also a good thing to consider if you don’t want to pay a sky-high traffic ticket for speeding in a work zone.
Choose a lane and stay there — Jumping back and forth rarely saves time. Just stay put.
Look out for work crews and construction vehicles — Construction zones can be quite dangerous. Do your part to keep things safe.
Be mindful of other drivers – Allow a little extra room between you and the car in front of you. Also, be sure to let other drivers merge when necessary.
