What Is Honda B1 Service?

You look at your new Honda’s dashboard several months after purchasing your reliable car, truck, minivan, or SUV. You see a light that says “B1” for the service code. What is the B1 Honda service code? What does it mean? We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Honda B1 service with our handy guide from Don Ayres Honda.

What Is the Meaning Behind the Honda B1 Service Light?

Fortunately, the B1 Honda service code means it’s time for regular vehicle repairs for your Honda Civic, Honda Pilot, or any new Honda you have, for an oil change and tire rotation.

So, what is the Honda B1 service? The “B” indicates your vehicle is due for an oil change and a mechanical inspection. Meanwhile, the “1” means your vehicle gets a tire rotation. You don’t need to come into our service center right away. But it does mean service is due soon. B1 service is not very expensive.

What’s Included in Honda B1 Service?

Honda Civic B1 service, or for any other mode, isn’t time-consuming, either. We’ll have you in and out in no time! So you can bring your Honda Civic for B1 service whenever you can, within 50 miles of that light coming on.

When seeing your B1 Honda service code, your vehicle gets an oil change, a new oil filter, a tire rotation, and the following other services:

  • Inspection of the front and rear brake pads and rotors
  • Parking brake adjustment
  • Inspection of the tie-rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots
  • Inspection of the suspension components
  • Inspection of the driveshaft boots
  • Inspection of the brake hoses and lines (including the antilock braking and vehicle stability assist systems)
  • Inspection of the exhaust system
  • Inspection of the fuel lines and connections
  • Inspection of all fluid levels and condition of fluids (brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, etc.)

After we inspect these elements, we’ll suggest anything that might need fixing or replacement at some point during your vehicle ownership, such as new brake pads, a radiator flush and fill, or new brake fluid. Without this service due soon, a B1 code wouldn’t alert you to something that might need to be fixed.

What to Do After Seeing the B1 Honda Service Code

It means service is due soon. B1 on your dashboard means it’s time for your routine inspection every 5,000 to 7,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. It’s part of the Honda Maintenance Minder system, which tells you when maintenance is required, like when you see the Honda Civic B1 service light on the dash.
